Job Summary
Develop and administer middle school curriculum consistent with district goals, translating lesson plans into learning experiences that utilize available instructional time. Teach assigned subject matters including reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, art, health, physical education, and music while conducting ongoing assessments to modify methods for individual student needs. Maintain accurate records of grading, reporting, and attendance; encourage parental involvement and ensure effective communication regarding student progress. Supervise students during out-of-classroom activities and school transportation, administer standardized tests, and coordinate with grade-level staff to evaluate curriculum. Select instructional supplies, maintain inventory, and establish standards for pupil behavior to create a safe, functional learning environment.
Required Qualifications
- [State] State Certification as a Middle School Teacher
- Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation
- Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment
- Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy
- Knowledge of middle school curriculum and concepts
- Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students
- Ability to use computer network system and software applications
- Ability to organize and coordinate work
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others
- Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level
