Job Summary
Middle School Physical Education teacher responsible for planning, implementing, and sustaining a comprehensive PE and health program aligned with Florida Standards. Duties include directing the PE program, coordinating schedules with the principal, recommending supplies, participating in in-service programs, and fostering a climate of openness, respect, and collaboration among students, parents, colleagues, and the community. Strong emphasis on student instruction, assessment to maximize achievement, creation of engaging lessons to address multiple intelligences, effective classroom management, and safety. The role requires collaboration to support students’ well-being and learning outcomes, with focus on developing course, unit, and lesson plans and providing timely data for improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year institution, preferably with a specialization in physical education, kinesiology, physiology, physical therapy, or nutrition and health
- Valid PE Teacher State Certification and statement of eligibility
- Demonstrated experience in educational or group settings involving children (e.g., park and recreation centers, scout organizations, fitness programs)
- 2-year minimum previous experience teaching at the K-8 level
