Job Summary
Head-Royce School seeks a full-time Middle School Math Teacher to join the department starting in August for the 26-27 school year, teaching pre-Algebra through Geometry including Advanced Algebra 1. The role may include teaching computer science and serving as an advisor in the Middle School. The candidate should be culturally responsive, collaborative, and capable of engaging diverse middle school learners; experience with UbD and UDL is valued. The position emphasizes commitment to the school’s core values (Students First, Academic Excellence, Diversity, Belonging, Civic Engagement) and active participation in school community life beyond the classroom. Candidates must meet education and experience requirements, be able to participate in an outdoor education trip for 3-4 nights, and be willing to undergo required background checks and SB 848 disclosures. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics or a related field
- 2-5 years minimum teaching experience
- Demonstrated desire to teach in the Middle School
- Knowledge of appropriate use of technology to enhance the learning experience
- Understanding and support of Head-Royce’s core values with strong emphasis on equity and social justice
- Ability to participate in an outdoor education trip for 3-4 nights (additional stipend paid)
- Experience teaching math, including knowledge of middle school learners and developmentally appropriate classroom management skills
- Experience teaching computer science, and or financial literacy at this developmental age
- Collaborative, flexible colleague with Middle School teaching experience, with an ability to teach the full range of learners from grades 6 through 8
- Clear communicator with students, colleagues, and parents
- Demonstrated knowledge of social/emotional development and developmentally appropriate curriculum for culturally responsive teaching and learning
- Demonstrated understanding of and curiosity regarding curriculum design, varied pedagogical approaches as well as different styles and types of assessment
- Knowledge of appropriate use of technology to enhance the learning experience
- Qualifications - Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics or related field
- 2-5 years minimum teaching experience
- Understanding of school values and equity focus
- Outdoor education trip readiness
- Advanced degrees/certification desirable (not required)
- Experience with UbD (Understanding by Design)
- UDL (Universal Design for Learning) experience
Desired Qualifications
