Middle School Humanities Teacher

Job Summary
Teach core content in literacy, writing, and social studies while developing and implementing a rigorous Humanities Program for the Middle School. Research and create lessons to complement the curriculum, individualize instruction, and track student academic progress and attendance. Generate formal and informal reports on student performance, provide regular feedback, and communicate with parents and caregivers throughout the year. Collaborate with the MS Director, Residential Life team, and faculty to create meaningful experiences, plan whole school events, and lead co-curricular programming. Build rapport with students and families in an urban environment while maintaining high academic and behavioral standards.
Required Qualifications
- MA in Education
- 3-5 Successful years teaching Literacy and or Social Studies
- highly qualified in Literacy
- CSA, as a condition of employment, requires a comprehensive background check, including a drug-screening, prior to hiring
- CSA is a drug-free environment, and random drug-screenings may be required of all employees after hiring
Desired Qualifications
- MA in Education Preferred
- 3-5 Successful years teaching Literacy and or Social Studies preferred
- Experience with coaching and or leading co-curricular programming preferred
- A creative, engaging, and innovative educator that has a strong passion for the content and a deep interest in supporting learners
- Interested in working with and helping students from urban environments succeed in a rigorous academic setting
- Flexible and Forward thinking
- Interested in designing and leading in co-curricular and extended day programming
- Having an entrepreneurial spirit and excited about designing curriculum and creating new programming
- A constant learner who reflects on his/her own work, regularly seeking feedback and knowledge to improve their teaching practice
- Set and hold students to extremely high academic and behavioral standards
- Build rapport with students and families outside of classroom
- Willingness to work closely with the MS Director, Staff and Faculty to create programming and experiences to enhance student learning and engage the larger CSA community
