Job Summary
Middle School History teachers work in grade-level teams to push students toward being self-guided learners, teaching an in-house curriculum with emphasis on Indigenous peoples, African Americans, women, ancient cultures, and the development of historiography through primary and secondary sources. Responsibilities include facilitating student-led discourse, analyzing student work trends with leadership, differentiating instruction for all learners, and building positive relationships with students and families. Requires a bachelor's degree and NY certification eligibility, enrollment in teacher-prep, and commitment to NY certification within a reasonable period. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- NY state certification eligibility requirements (teach in NY)
- Enrollment in a teacher preparation program and maintaining a GPA of 2.5 or higher during employment if not have a degree in education
- Must meet NY certification requirements and become certified in NY within a reasonable period after beginning employment
