Job Summary
Teach middle school history in urban districts (Boston, Camden, NYC, Newark, Rochester) with a focus on developing students' historical thinking through primary/secondary source analysis, textual analysis, and discourse. Collaborate in grade-level teams; utilize an in-house curriculum that highlights diverse histories; engage in data-informed instruction, weekly coaching, and professional development; build inclusive relationships with students and families; participate in school-wide meetings and practice-based PD. Compensation ranges from $50,000 to $64,700 with comprehensive benefits; NY certification eligibility required within a reasonable period after starting.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Certification is not required to be hired at Uncommon, but you must meet NY state certification eligibility requirements and enroll in a teacher preparation program; maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher if you do not have a degree in education; must become certified in New York within a reasonable period after beginning employment.
