Job Summary
Middle School History Teacher responsible for facilitating student-led discourse, analyzing student work, differentiating instruction, building inclusive classroom culture, and partnering with families and grade-level teams. Teach an in-house curriculum emphasizing Indigenous peoples, African Americans, women, and other diverse histories; use primary and secondary sources to develop students' argumentation, sourcing, and historiography. Requires a bachelor's degree and NY certification eligibility; 1-2 years of experience preferred. Compensation ranges from $50,000 to $64,700 along with comprehensive benefits; positions located in Rochester, NY and other partner sites (Boston, Camden, NYC, Newark).
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Certification is not required to be hired at Uncommon, but you must meet NY state certification eligibility requirements and enroll in a teacher preparation program, maintaining a GPA of 2.5 or higher if you do not have a degree in education
- Must become certified in the state of New York within a reasonable period after beginning employment
