Middle School History Teacher responsible for facilitating student-led discourse, analyzing primary and secondary sources, teaching an in-house curriculum that emphasizes diverse histories, and developing students' evidence-based reasoning. Focus areas include textual analysis, historiography, inclusive instruction, differentiating instruction for all learners, collaborating with grade-level teams and families, engaging in weekly principal/coach meetings, and participating in professional development to support student achievement and college-preparatory outcomes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Certification not required to be hired at Uncommon, but must meet NY state certification eligibility requirements
- Must enroll in a teacher preparation program and maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher during employment if you do not have a degree in education
- Teachers are required to become certified in the state of New York within a reasonable period after beginning employment
