Job Summary

Facilitate student-led discourse on historical topics through peer-to-peer debate and primary source analysis. Guide learners in understanding authorial claims, sourcing, and argumentation while teaching an in-house curriculum prioritizing diverse histories of Indigenous peoples, African Americans, women, and ancient cultures. Build inclusive classroom environments where students express evidence-based opinions and partner with families to support learning needs. Meet weekly with leadership to analyze student work trends and implement differentiated instruction strategies. Engage in grade-level team collaboration to develop academic goals and participate in weekly school-wide meetings.

Required Qualifications

  • A demonstrated commitment to supporting students' social emotional and academic development
  • An enthusiasm for collaborating with internal and external partners in the best interest of students
  • A self-directed learner who solicits and implements feedback to improve outcomes and achieve objectives
  • A demonstrated interest in impacting K-12 students in urban schools and communities
  • Academic expertise in Education, History, Geography, Political Science, Criminal Justice, Social Sciences, or the Humanities
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • NY state certification eligibility requirements
  • Enrollment in a teacher preparation program
  • Maintaining a GPA of 2.5 or higher during employment if not having a degree in education

Desired Qualifications

  • 1-2 years experience in K-12 urban schools and communities
