Job Summary
Supervise and coach participants while enforcing KCPS and first tee policies, ensuring adherence to MSHSAA rules and regulations. Teach fundamental skills, strategy, and values such as sportsmanship, cooperation, and personal responsibility to all student-athletes. Schedule and organize daily practices focused on developing the athlete's greatest potential while maintaining rigorous discipline and equipment accountability. Maintain records of team and individual accomplishments, arrange for award issuance, and model ethical behavior during practices and contests. Provide leadership to assistant coaches, volunteers, and students involved in the assigned sport. This seasonal position requires completing mandatory Safe Schools Online Training and the MSHSAA/NFHS Coaching Principles Course, with a salary grade of $4000 per season.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of particular sport (philosophy & coaching)
- Must successfully complete the MSHSAA/NFHS Coaching Principles Course and Sports First Aid Courses
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, use hands, fingers, reach with hands and fingers
- Ability to bend, stoop, and lift objects of at least 25 pounds
Desired Qualifications
- Employed as a teacher in the school in which the candidate applies for a coaching position
