Job Summary

Design and implement data-driven lesson plans to support students with cognitive or developmental delays while developing individualized education programs (IEPs). Collect daily data on student skills to measure progress toward IEP goals and maintain special education files in compliance with federal, state, and local practices. Maximize independence across natural settings by teaching functional curriculum focused on daily living and vocational skills to prepare students for independent living after high school. Direct and supervise education assistants to ensure effective classroom programs and advocate for student exposure to general education peers. Provide physical support for students' health and wellness needs, including toileting and diapering, while adapting general curriculum to ensure all students access academic content.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • valid Tennessee teaching license with the appropriate content endorsement to teach SPED
  • valid out of state license that can successfully be transferred to Tennessee within 90 days of employment
  • demonstrate you are on track to complete the necessary steps towards certification in Tennessee

Desired Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years teaching experience
  • Previous experience with diverse student populations
  • Previous experience in an urban setting
  • Belief in the LEAD mission that all students are capable of success while preparing them for college and for life
  • Evidence of self-motivation
  • Willingness to be a team player
