Job Summary
The English-Literacy Teacher partners with the Middle School Faculty to provide an engaging, balanced English Literacy program to students in grades 5-8, delivering rigor and extended learning within a progressive, diverse learning environment. Responsibilities include teaching literature, reading, and writing; developing curricula with elements of history, current events, and social studies; collaborating with the English-Humanities team to design assessments; advising a group of 6-8 students in an SEL program; chaperoning one trip per year; planning and implementing authentic assessments; and contributing to student portfolios and parent conferences. The role requires collaboration with the Learning Specialist and Wellness Team, a commitment to social justice and multicultural education, and the ability to create enriching, differentiated instruction using varied teaching techniques. Preferred qualifications include a Teaching Credential or Master’s in Education. Salary ranges from $85,000 to $134,000 annually, commensurate with experience and degrees earned, with comprehensive benefits.”,
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of three years teaching experience
- Knowledge of and experience with reading and writing programs for Grades 5-8 including but not limited to guided reading, Readers’ and Writers’ Workshop, and Structured Word Inquiry or similar etymology-based word-study program
