Job Summary
Middle School Elective Teacher/Coach responsible for delivering core academic instruction, developing lesson plans aligned to the district curriculum program and TEA guidelines, differentiating to accommodate diverse learning styles, and planning/assessing student achievement. Responsibilities include using technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process; coordinating with special education staff to modify curricula per IEPs; planning and supervising teacher aides and volunteers; supervising extracurricular activities; communicating with parents and staff; attending faculty meetings and serving on committees; maintaining classroom environment and behavior management per district policies; and upholding professional standards. Skills emphasized include collaboration, effective communication, organization, instructional planning, data-driven assessment, and ability to engage students across content areas. Education/Certification confirmed: Bachelor's degree and valid Texas teaching certificate with endorsements or training; demonstrated core subject competency; minimum one-year student teaching or approved internship.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned
- Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
- Special Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of core academic subjects assigned; General knowledge of curriculum and instruction; Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior; Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; At least one-year student teaching or approved internship
