Job Summary
Middle School ELA Teacher needed to deliver an inclusive, culturally responsive English Language Arts curriculum for urban middle school students. Responsibilities include instruction that develops literature analysis, writing across genres, student-led discourse, and fostering an inclusive classroom culture; data analysis with weekly meetings to differentiate instruction; and collaboration with families and external partners to support student learning. The role emphasizes equitable instructional practices, reading comprehension, discourse, and the use of research-based strategies to prioritize student voice and agency. Strong emphasis on professional development, coaching, and school-wide collaborative planning, with a commitment to social-emotional and academic growth for all students.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- NY state certification eligibility requirements (teacher prep program and maintaining GPA 2.5 if no degree in education)
- Ability to enroll in a teacher preparation program and become certified in New York within a reasonable period after beginning employment
- Experience or demonstrated interest in impacting K-12 students in urban schools (1-2 years preferred)
- Academic expertise in Humanities, English, Social Sciences, or related fields
