Job Summary
Middle School English Language Arts (ELA) teachers develop subject mastery and foster an inclusive, culturally responsive classroom culture. Responsibilities include teaching literature and writing, guiding student discourse, analyzing data with the principal/coach to differentiate instruction, building positive relationships with students and families, and participating in weekly school-wide meetings, mentorship, and professional development. Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree and NJ certification eligibility requirements; teacher certification is not a prerequisite in NJ but eligibility must be met. Compensation ranges from $56,000 to $80,000 with comprehensive benefits and opportunities for coaching and growth within Uncommon Schools.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- NJ state certification eligibility requirements (final undergraduate or graduate cumulative GPA of 3.0 for graduates on or after 9/1/16, or 2.75 if graduated prior to 9/1/16)
- All instructional staff are required to become certified in New Jersey within a reasonable period after beginning employment
