Job Summary
Teach middle school English Language Arts with a focus on literature analysis, writing, and student-led discourse. Implement an inclusive, culturally responsive curriculum that aims for equitable outcomes, guide students in analyzing texts, writing in multiple genres, and developing their own voices. Collaborate with an instructional team to analyze student work, differentiate instruction, and support a positive classroom culture. Build strong relationships with students and families, participate in weekly school-wide meetings, and engage in ongoing professional development, mentorship, and coaching to improve instructional practice and student achievement.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Teacher certification is not a prerequisite for consideration in NJ, but must meet NJ state certification eligibility requirements
- All instructional staff are required to become certified in the state of New Jersey within a reasonable period after beginning employment
- 1-2 years of experience preferred in urban K-12 settings
- Demonstrated interest in impacting K-12 students in urban schools and communities
