Job Summary
Middle School ELA Teacher responsible for delivering an inclusive, culturally responsive ELA curriculum; guide students to analyze literary and non-narrative texts, foster meaningful discourse, and help students develop writing and reading comprehension skills. Collaborate weekly with principal and instructional coach to analyze student work and differentiate instruction; build positive school culture, partner with families, participate in practice-based professional development, mentorship, and weekly school-wide meetings, and contribute to grade-level academic goal setting. Requires a bachelor’s degree and eligibility for New York state certification, with 1-2 years of experience preferred and a path to certification if not currently certified.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- NY state certification eligibility requirements (enroll in a teacher preparation program and maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher if not have a degree in education)
- Certification not required to be hired but must meet NY certification requirements
- 1-2 years experience preferred
- Interest in impacting K-12 urban students
- Academic expertise in Humanities, English, Social Sciences, or related fields
