Job Summary
Develop and implement the girls' soccer program by overseeing team preparation after school, scheduling games, and managing equipment inventory. Assign duties to assistant coaches, maintain compliance with LHSAA and JPPSS rules, and ensure student athletes have current physicals and insurance coverage. Build sportsmanship, manage team statistics, and coordinate transportation for road trips while communicating with parents, faculty, and the media. Work weekends and holidays as needed, maintain security of student records, and participate in professional development to earn thirty-six Continuing Learning Units annually. Requires a valid Louisiana teaching certificate, CDL Class B with endorsements, and expertise in soccer fundamentals and athlete conditioning.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate
- CECP completion
- current LHSAA requirements
- CDL class B or above with a P and S endorsement free of air brake restrictions
- requirements of the Louisiana Department of Education school bus driver component
- Employment with the Jefferson Parish Public School System as a teacher and/or administrator
- requirements in Article 3.3 (Faculty Coaches) of the LHSAA handbook
- Demonstrated expertise, knowledge and competency in basic soccer fundamentals
- Professional knowledge of LHSAA and JPPSS rules and regulations for soccer
- Expertise, knowledge and competency in conditioning of athletes sport specific
- ability to communicate in Standard English, both orally and in writing and or digitally
- ability to accurately give and receive information via telecommunication system
- ability to communicate successfully and tactfully with students, parents and school personnel while following JPPSS policies
- ability to accurately communicate with members of the media
- ability to represent the school and or school system at various functions
- ability to accurately compile and access data, summarize information and provide written reports to his/her supervisor
- ability to adhere to all LHSAA assigned district, Jefferson Parish Public School System (JPPSS) and the Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) rules and regulations
- ability to work weekends and holidays
- ability to maintain security of electronic and print records with regard to confidentiality of student information and passwords
- ability to ensure all student athletes have a current physical exam
- ability to ensure that all student athletes have adequate insurance coverage as specified by the JPPSS and the LHSAA
- ability to keep the principal and faculty informed of departure times for trips
- ability to ensure that all participants have transportation home when returning from road trips
- ability to set the criteria for lettering
- ability to maintain team statistics
- ability to participate in professional development through workshops, literature, clinics and seminars
- ability to acquire thirty-six (36) Continuing Learning Units (CLUs) per year
- ability to adhere to Parish and State requirements for promptly reporting rosters, schedules, scores, eligibility or documentation of incidents or injuries
- ability to cooperate, communicate and work with the school based athletic director and administrator in charge of athletics
- ability to evaluate assistant coaches that he/she supervises

Desired Qualifications
- Previous playing experience in soccer preferred (on college or university level; minimum experience on high school level)
- Previous coaching experience on the junior varsity, junior high/middle school or other recreation activity level in soccer
- Expertise, knowledge and competency in first aid for the prevention and treatment of soccer injuries
