Job Summary
Head coach for middle school boys basketball responsible for team selection, establishing the fundamental philosophy and techniques to be taught, scheduling and transportation support for tournaments and practices, preparing injury reports, supervising assistants and staff, overseeing equipment and facility maintenance, recruiting athletes, promoting the sport within the school, and ensuring adherence to athletic policies and regulations. Requires strong leadership, communication with the athletic director and principal, knowledge of district policies and NM coaching standards, and the ability to manage a budget and public relations related to the program.
Required Qualifications
- Valid New Mexico Coaching Certification
- Employment as a teacher in the Aztec Municipal School District (Preferred)
- Has previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport
- Has the ability to organize and supervise a total sports program
- The head coach must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and at the same time must continue to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the field
