Job Summary
AVID Middle School Elective Teacher position at Dr. Marian G. Lacey K-8 Academy focusing on AVID College/Career Readiness within a K-8 STREAM framework. Responsibilities include planning and delivering hands-on instruction, differentiating instruction, assessing student progress, maintaining records, communicating with students and parents, collaborating with administration and staff, and integrating literacy, mathematics, science, engineering, arts, and other content. Requires Arkansas K-8 certification, ESOL endorsement preferred, and a minimum of three years teaching experience. Contract is 9.25 months with benefits; video submission required as part of application. Emphasizes mastery-based learning, data-informed instruction, and community engagement.
Required Qualifications
- At least three years of exemplary teaching experience
- Must meet Arkansas certification and licensure requirements for K-8 instruction
- ESOL endorsement preferred
- Demonstrates a willingness to try innovative teaching and assessment strategies that would benefit all students
- Willingness to participate in on-going staff development
- Ability to differentiate instruction and sensitivity to cultural differences
- Commitment to staff development and to apply techniques in the classroom
- Demonstrates the conviction that all children can and will learn at Dr. Marian G. Lacey K-8 Academy
- Evidence of a strong commitment to quality desegregated education
- Ability to articulate student progress clearly and frequently to students and parents
- Evidence of the ability to design and implement hands-on activities and thematic units in all content areas
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Experience in developing and implementing talent development opportunities
- Submission of a 5-10 minute video demonstrating the learning experience in your classroom required
