Job Summary
Middle School Art Teacher role at Uncommon Schools. Teach Art to middle school students, design and implement the art program, align lessons with standards, collaborate with teachers and outside providers, engage families, supervise after-school enrichment as applicable, and support students’ academic and artistic development within an urban public charter school setting. Responsibilities include designing curricula, coordinating with vendors, maintaining records, participating in trainings and certification processes, and supporting reading integration where needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Certification not required to be hired but you must meet NY state certification eligibility requirements
- Must enroll in a teacher preparation program and maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher if you do not have a degree in education
- Must become certified in the state of New York within a reasonable period after beginning employment
- 1-2 years experience preferred in impacting K-12 urban students (shown as preferred, not required)
