Job Summary
Manage and underwrite assigned middle market business to achieve profitability and meet financial objectives by selecting profitable new accounts and classifying risks using analytical tools. Monitor premium growth for your territory, conducting profit and growth analysis, while handling complex accounts that may require reinsurance placement. Lead reviews on larger accounts exceeding letter of authority and work with Distribution to implement necessary changes for book improvement. Maintain appropriate underwriting file documentation and keep current on state/territory issues and regulations. Develop and maintain strong relationships with agents, traveling as needed for agency visits, and provide input to drive strategic underwriting initiatives. This role requires a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 2 years of experience in Commercial Lines Underwriting. Located in Alpharetta, GA, with a hybrid work model.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field
- 2 years of experience in Commercial Lines Underwriting
- 4 years of experience in Commercial Lines Underwriting
- Ability to travel to assigned agents including occasional overnight
- Legally authorized to work in the United States

- Experience in underwriting Middle Market accounts
- Strong knowledge of underwriting principles and guidelines to evaluate and manage highly complex accounts effectively
- Solid time, organizational, and desk management skills
- Ability to apply advanced underwriting concepts including risk selection, exposure and hazard identification and control, coverage implications, and loss analysis
- Ability to think analytically about business problems, make recommendations and propose solutions
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including negotiation, presentation, and influence to achieve favorable outcomes
- Knowledge of commercial lines coverages and policies in assigned states
- Ability to professionally interact with our customers
- Ability to investigate, gather facts and information, and analyze coverage
