Job Summary
Plan, prepare, and deliver rigorous engaging lessons in ways that build upon individual strengths and offer students maximum opportunities to participate in the planning and direction of their own learning experience. Use project-based instructional formats to engage all students, develop soft skills (critical thinking, problem solving, communication, collaboration), and integrate technology to enhance learning. Employ diverse assessment tools to measure progress toward learning, college and career goals. Identify resources to meet varied needs, advise students through the Advisory Program, promote high expectations beyond high school, and communicate progress to students, colleagues, and parents. Foster family and community partnerships to address barriers to learning, contribute to a high-performing team, and pursue ongoing professional growth through professional development and collaboration.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in education or related field
- Master’s degree or higher preferred
- Minimum of three years experience as a middle or high school teacher preferred
- NC Professional Educator’s License preferred, but not required; Must be eligible to obtain license within 3 years
- Possess a deep commitment to serve the needs of students and families who are first generation college goers and those typically underrepresented in postsecondary education and STEM fields
