Job Summary
Ownership & Rendering: Create and optimise real-time VFX and shader networks to achieve the game's visual goals. Design, implement, and optimise complex real-time shader networks and materials to support VFX and rendering tasks (e.g., custom rendering passes, post-effects). Support research and integration of innovative rendering techniques and procedural methods. Cross Discipline Collaboration: Work with lead artists/technical artists to translate VFX into in-game assets; participate in reviews and iterative development; share learnings and stay current on real-time VFX practices. Documentation & Research: Maintain clear technical documentation; identify potential technical debt and production risks; stay updated on engine updates and industry trends to keep technical art practices competitive.
Required Qualifications
- Approximately 3+ years of professional experience in the games industry.
- Strong foundational knowledge of the art pipeline; experience in art and animation content creation.
- Proven proficiency in scripting and coding in one or more core languages.
- Current, hands-on development experience with modern commercial game engines.
- Strong knowledge in at least one DCC package (Maya, 3ds Max, Blender, Adobe Suite) and advanced skills in at least one development package (Houdini, EmberGen, After Effects, Substance suite).
- Desirable: AAA game development experience; familiarity with console development; motion graphics skills for UI elements.
