Job Summary
Mid Software Engineer responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable backend services and REST APIs for the data platform; integrate with systems like Kafka, Snowflake, and AWS; ensure code quality through testing, reviews, and best practices; collaborate with data engineers and platform teams in an agile environment to deliver reliable, scalable, and easily integrable solutions; contribute to system design and technical decisions within a data-mesh architecture, with a focus on enabling data to be trusted, discoverable, and usable across domains; remote-friendly role based in Portugal with flexible working hours.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in backend development (preferably Python) and building REST APIs in distributed systems
- Knowledge of Apache Kafka or event-driven architectures, and familiarity with AWS services
- Good understanding of the software development lifecycle, coding best practices, and testing approaches
- Comfortable working in agile teams, with strong collaboration and communication skills
- Clear communication skills, with fluent spoken and written English
