Job Summary
Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on a wide range of city vehicles and equipment at City of Fort Wayne – Fleet Garage. Duties include preventative maintenance, diagnostic work, major/minor repairs on engines (two-stroke and four-stroke), hydraulic, transmission, and electrical systems; assist in new vehicle make-ready and decommissioning; provide roadside assistance; maintain a clean, safe work area and follow safety procedures.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma (or equivalent) plus 5 years' experience as a skilled mechanic; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of heavy and light equipment, internal combustion and diesel engines
- CDL B with airbrake endorsement within one year
- Valid Indiana driver's license
- Skilled with garage tools, scan tools, and mechanical diagnostics
