Job Summary
Conduct structural engineering reviews and prepare design specifications for utility-scale solar, wind, battery storage, and thermal power projects. Advise developers on new infrastructure initiatives and independently evaluate projects to support financing decisions. Develop technical reports for owners, agencies, and financiers while leading teams to automate workflows using data and modern tools. Manage expectations for AI and scripting applications to reduce rework and deliver cost-effective designs. Requires a Bachelor's in civil/structural engineering with 5+ years in detailed design and 3+ years in power generation. Hybrid schedule with three in-office days per week.
Required Qualifications
- This position is based on a hybrid work schedule and will require in-office work 3 days per week.
- This position requires a Bachelor's degree in civil/structural engineering with a structural specialty.
- 5+ years of detailed structural design, including mass concrete, steel, piles, deep foundations, lattice structures, etc.
- 3+ years of experience working in detailed structural design specific to power generation or distribution (thermal, renewable, substations, etc.)
- Experience in writing and providing support documentation for Structural Engineering specifications, calculations, and whitepapers or feasibility studies.
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical evaluation report writing
Desired Qualifications
- A Master's degree in civil/structural engineering or business (e.g., MBA) discipline is a plus.
- Professional Engineering (PE) or Structural Engineering (SE) license
- Finite element modeling experience – specifically SAP2000, LPILE, STAAD, etc.
- Experience with design of foundations in unique subsurface conditions (i.e. karst, high groundwater, potential for liquefaction)
- Multi-discipline teamwork (i.e. design projects, co-ops)
- Data analysis and visualization
- Project finance or business acumen
- Conceptual project design
- Construction project management and/or scheduling software knowledge
- Solid interpersonal skills and ability to work with and guide others
- Project planning, leadership, and organizational skills
- Overseeing engineers who program or script (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate engineering tasks, with review of automated outputs
- We also value additional learning, such as a minor, certificate, or other experience in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields that enables effective oversight of automation and agentic AI-enabled engineering workflows.
