Job Summary
Draft complex patent applications, manage U.S. and foreign prosecution strategies, and conduct prior-art analysis for life sciences clients. Perform inventor interviews, support patent clearance matters, and review delegated work to maintain quality standards. Lead respectfully by identifying workflow inefficiencies, anticipating issues before escalation, and empowering less-experienced team members. Communicate directly with sophisticated scientists and inventors while reducing reliance on senior-level intervention for routine matters.
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. in a relevant life sciences or chemistry discipline
- J.D.
- Active USPTO registration
- Approximately 3–6 years of substantive patent drafting and prosecution experience
- Experience working directly with sophisticated scientific clients and inventors
- The ability to take meaningful ownership of matters, people, and workflows
- Currently reside in the DMV area or be willing to relocate
- Representative writing samples demonstrating substantive patent drafting and prosecution experience
- A patent application substantially drafted by you
- An Office Action response substantially drafted by you
