Job Summary
Mid-Level Mechanisms Engineer in Washington, DC responsible for designing, analyzing, and testing flight-critical aerospace mechanisms (actuators, hinges, latching and deployment/separation systems) and overseeing hardware development from concept through manufacturing, environmental testing, and flight qualification. Role requires kinematic, structural, and thermal modeling, CAD with Siemens NX, GD&T (ANSI Y14.5), and the ability to work with multidisciplinary teams to integrate mechanisms into vehicle architectures while meeting mass, power, and interface constraints. Must possess an active DoD Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI. Salary range $112,000–$160,000 per year, with potential bonus/equity; located in Arlington, VA area with Washington, DC assignment.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the design and development of mechanisms for spacecraft, missile systems, or air platforms.
- Experience designing, analyzing, and testing flight‐critical mechanical assemblies, including actuators, hinges, latching devices, and deployment or separation mechanisms.
- Proficiency in kinematic, stress, and thermal analysis for aerospace applications.
- Experience managing hardware development from initial concept through manufacturing, environmental testing, and flight qualification.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineering teams to integrate mechanisms into overall vehicle architectures.
- CAD proficiency, preferably with Siemens NX; familiarity ANSI Y14.5 (GD&T)
- Active DoD Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD TS/SCI clearance
- Ability to lift and/or move 50 pounds
