Job Summary
Mid-Level Intellectual Property Litigation Associate to support patent, trademark, and copyright litigation matters across a national practice. Responsibilities include managing day-to-day aspects of patent litigation in U.S. federal courts, PTAB proceedings, and ITC investigations; drafting motions and briefs (including discovery motions, Markman, Daubert, and dispositive motions); taking and defending depositions; assisting with fact and expert discovery; contributing to infringement and invalidity analyses; supporting trial preparation, including witness outlines and jury instructions; conducting claim construction research and drafting briefing portions; collaborating with technical and damages experts; coordinating with internal teams and clients; and mentoring junior team members while contributing to overall case strategy and firm culture.
Required Qualifications
- JD from an accredited law school
- 3–5 years of intellectual property litigation experience at an AmLaw 200 firm or leading IP boutique
- Experience with key phases of IP litigation (pleadings, discovery, depositions, expert discovery, claim construction, dispositive motions, trial preparation)
- Experience drafting substantive motions and briefs; deposition and oral advocacy experience preferred
- Technical background (e.g., electrical engineering, computer science, mechanical engineering, physics, biology, chemistry) preferred; USPTO registration a plus
- Experience with PTAB IPRs and/or ITC Section 337 investigations is a plus
- Experience with TTAB oppositions, cancellations, and/or appeals is a plus
- Experience with UDPR complaints is a plus
- Familiarity with FRCP, FRE, patent local rules, and e-discovery tools/practices
- Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills; organizational skills; ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Active bar admission in the relevant jurisdiction or ability to obtain admission by waiver
