Job Summary
Support renewable energy interconnection projects from application through detailed design and construction, including medium- to extra-high-voltage substation facilities. Perform detailed electrical design for one-line diagrams, control schematics, wiring diagrams, and SCADA systems, while conducting short-circuit analysis, time-current coordination, and protection scheme development. Assist with proposal preparation, engineering estimates, and field commissioning activities in accordance with IEEE, NEC, and NESC standards. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions that meet industry standards and client expectations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Renewable Energy Engineering from an accredited institution, preferably with a power systems emphasis
- Experience supporting utility substation design projects
- Experience with IEEE and ANSI standards
- Experience working on multiple engineering projects concurrently
- Experience providing construction support and/or field commissioning support
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with internal project teams and external client stakeholders
- Legally authorized to work permanently in the United States without sponsorship
Desired Qualifications
- Approximately 5 years of experience in utility substation design
- Experience designing substations ranging from 15kV to 500kV
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Experience supporting renewable energy generation and interconnection projects
- Familiarity with protection and control systems, SCADA, and utility communications
- Experience with ETAP, ASPEN, SKM, PSCAD, CDEGS, or similar power system analysis tools
