Job Summary
Mid-Level Electrical Engineer role leading design, development, and testing of electrical systems for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in Madison, AL. Responsibilities include circuit design, schematic capture, system-level architecture, electrical integration, reviews with internal teams and customers, test plan development and verification, collaboration with mechanical/software/systems teams, and production support. Qualifications emphasize a Bachelor’s in electrical engineering (Master’s preferred), 5-10 years in aerospace/defense/UAV electrical design, proficiency with Altium/Eagle, leadership and mentoring experience, and ITAR/CUI access eligibility. The role requires US citizenship and ability to obtain a security clearance; on-site, full-time with possible travel. Advanced skills in analog/digital/power systems, MATLAB/Python, and familiarity with aerospace standards are desired.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field (Master's degree preferred)
- 5-10 years of professional experience in electrical engineering
- Proven experience in aerospace, defense, or UAV electrical systems design
- Strong expertise in circuit design, power electronics, and embedded systems
- Proficiency with circuit design tools such as Altium, Eagle, or equivalent
- Experience leading technical projects and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and provide technical oversight to junior engineers
- Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles including analog, digital, and power systems
- Experience with electrical testing, validation, and troubleshooting complex systems
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to present technical information clearly
- Must be a U.S. Person as defined by ITAR regulations and able to access ITAR and CUI (Controlled Unclassified Information)
- Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in electrical engineering or related field
- Experience with avionics, flight control systems, or autopilot systems
- Knowledge of power distribution systems, battery management, and energy storage
- Experience with RF systems, antennas, telemetry, or communications systems
- Familiarity with DO-160, MIL-STD-461, or other aerospace electrical standards
- Experience with embedded systems development and hardware-software integration
- Background in systems engineering and requirements management
- Experience with MATLAB, Python, or other engineering analysis tools
- Physical Requirements
- Ability to work at a desk or bench for extended periods
- Capable of lifting and handling electronic equipment and assemblies
- Work Environment
- Full-time, on-site position in Madison, Alabama
- Work will be performed in engineering laboratory, office, and production environments
- Standard business hours with flexibility required to meet project deadlines
- Travel may be required for testing, customer meetings, or field support activities
- Reporting Structure
- This position reports directly to the Electrical Engineering Manager and works as a technical lead within the engineering team, providing oversight and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.
