Job Summary
Mid-level Commissioning Engineer for Data Center / Mission-Critical Facilities in Charlotte, NC. You’ll work with senior engineers to verify system performance, assist with field testing, and ensure quality documentation across Enterprise, Colocation, and Hyperscale projects. Responsibilities include assisting with pre-startup/startup procedures for mechanical and electrical systems, developing and executing commissioning test procedures, maintaining commissioning logs and checklists, reviewing equipment submittals, conducting functional testing of MEP systems (HVAC, chillers, CRAC units, fire alarm systems, standby generators, UPS, switchgear, PDUs), supporting integrated load testing, attending commissioning meetings, coordinating with contractors and vendors, and creating commissioning documentation. Requirements include 2–6 years in a related engineering/technical role, degree in electrical/mechanical engineering as a plus but not required, data center/mission-critical experience preferred, knowledge of UPS/switchgear/generators/PDUs and HVAC systems is a plus, strong documentation and communication skills, ability to work in the field, and willingness to travel. Required Qualifications
- 2–6 years of experience in a relevant engineering or technical role (MEP systems, electrical power, mechanical systems, or commissioning support)
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering a plus, but not required
- Data center or mission-critical facility experience preferred
- Knowledge of electrical systems (UPS, switchgear, generators, PDUs) and/or mechanical systems (CRAC units, chillers, HVAC systems) a plus
- Strong organizational and documentation skills; familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a field environment, follow safety protocols, and interact with a variety of stakeholders
- Familiarity with commissioning levels (L1–L5) a plus; willingness to learn and grow into higher-level responsibilities
- Previous military experience is a huge plus! Candidates with electrical or mechanical experience in the Navy (Nukes, EMN, ETN, MMNs, Seabees), Army (Power Generation), Air Force (Power Production), Generator Techs, Coast Guard, or Army National Guard are highly encouraged to apply
