Job Summary
Design and implement robust, scalable, and secure database solutions for mission-critical applications using Esri technology best practices. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to configure back-end geospatial database management capabilities supporting ArcGIS workflows, while monitoring performance through query optimization and indexing strategies. Automate routine database loading, maintenance, and monitoring tasks to improve efficiency, and provide technical guidance for data migration and integration projects. Maintain database environments including backup, restore, and disaster recovery protocols, ensuring compliance with security measures and access controls.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, GIS, or related STEM field
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in database design, administration, and optimization for Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or SAP HANA
- Familiarity with database design principles, data loading techniques, backup and recovery solutions, performance monitoring and tuning, database maintenance, and security
- Scripting skills in SQL and Python for automation and data workflows
- Active or Current (within two years of active) Top Secret Security Clearance with SCI eligibility
- Knowledge of Linux, UNIX, and/or Windows environments
- Exposure to geospatial concepts such as spatial data types, coordinate systems, and spatial indexing
- Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to technical peers and nontechnical project managers or customers
- Ability to work independently and yet be effective within a team setting
- Must be capable of managing multiple efforts with time-related constraints in a fast-paced contracting environment
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups and individuals
- Friendly presence, helpful attitude, good interpersonal skills, and ability to work well with others
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Office applications
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications, and experience working in a home office setting, as well as the ability to train end users on frequently asked technical issues
- Ability to provide technical assistance and support over the phone; good phone skills, professional demeanor, and previous customer service experience strongly desired
- Good problem-solving skills; ability to visualize a problem/situation and think abstractly to solve it
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in technical support or customer-facing GIS roles
- Experience with data conversion or migration
- Knowledge of Linux and UNIX environments
- Familiarity with web mapping and remote sensing tools
- Proficiency in Python scripting and SQL
- GIS certifications
