Job Summary
Develop and refine digital investigative tools for law enforcement to recover evidence from damaged electronics and threat actors. Execute in-circuit debugging and testing to determine device functionality or retrieve user data while troubleshooting hardware repairs. Design embedded systems utilizing programmable microcontrollers or FPGAs, focusing on flash memory technologies like NAND, eMMC, or UFS. Document findings meticulously and collaborate within a lab-based, mission-oriented environment to support criminal investigations. Requires Top Secret clearance, a Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, and 3+ years of hardware engineering experience. Salary ranges from $69,300 to $158,000 annually.
Required Qualifications
- Experience designing and developing embedded systems or electronics utilizing programmable microcontrollers or FPGAs, including software
- Experience with flash memory technology, including reading and programming flash memory, such as NAND flash, eMMC, or UFS
- Experience working in an engineering laboratory environment, including with common lab equipment such as signal generators, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and soldering equipment
- Experience with programming languages, such as C, C++, Java, or Python
- Top Secret clearance
- Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of experience in hardware engineering
- Master's degree and 1+ years of experience in hardware engineering
- 10+ years of experience in hardware engineering in lieu of a degree
- Ability to work independently and manage and balance a high-priority or high-pressure workload
- Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information
- Top Secret clearance is required
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with electronics design, schematics capture, layout, and fabrication
- Experience with embedded development for ARM or RISCV
- Experience with commercial digital forensics applications using USB, UART, JTAG, and ISP
- Experience with UNIX or Linux operating systems
