Job Summary
Conduct membrane filtration analysis of water, soil, and other substrates using applicable SOPs and test methods. Prepare stock cultures and agars while maintaining good laboratory housekeeping. Perform regular instrument maintenance, troubleshoot equipment, and manage consumables inventory. Complete data entry into the LIMS system and report drinking water adverse results immediately to the coordinator. Adhere to the Biosafety Manual, Emergency Response Plan, and Quality System. Work Tuesday to Saturday for 37.5 hours at $23 to $25 per hour in a permanent role.
Required Qualifications
- University degree or college diploma in a biology-related field
- WHMIS and safety training
- Computer literacy
- Strong organizational skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Tuesday to Saturday schedule
- 37.5 hours per week
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with microbiology testing
- Experience with membrane filtration procedures
- Experience working in a risk group level 2 pathogen laboratory
- Knowledge of drinking water regulations (e.g., O. Reg. 170/03, O. Reg. 319/08)
