Job Summary
Perform molecular assays to detect/type/characterize respiratory viruses; support assay platform design/evaluation and contribute to surveillance studies; draft SOPs, worksheets, job aids, validation plans/reports; maintain lab records and support internal/external audit readiness; attend team meetings and provide updates on lab activities; contribute to abstracts, presentations, and peer-reviewed publications; maintain required medical clearance (e.g., respiratory fit testing) when applicable.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in microbiology or related field
- 1-3 years of laboratory experience in virology/microbiology/assay development or related field (preferably public health)
- Experience working with human specimens and/or clinical data in a lab environment
- Strong documentation habits and attention to detail (records, SOPs, validation documentation)
- Ability to follow laboratory safety and quality practices; support audits
- Ability to obtain/maintain Public Trust suitability and comply with CDC policies
