Job Summary

Microbiologist needed to perform routine and non-routine microbiological testing of food and environmental samples using conventional plating techniques as well as PCR and ELISA instrumentation. Identify microorganisms by microscopic examination of physiological and cultural characteristics. Perform cultural confirmations for pathogens. Ensure accurate and complete traceability and documentation of testing activities in LIMS; review results for accuracy and suitability; initiate additional testing per client requests. Identify, document, and troubleshoot non-conformities with samples, instrumentation, and methodologies; assist with method verification and routine instrument maintenance. Refer to LIMS to meet client turnaround expectations and communicate with Lead Microbiologists and Supervisors on status. Provide training for other laboratory staff; participate in quality system activities and maintenance of test/training records; identify opportunities for process improvements. Follow written SOPs and work instructions; adapt to flexible hours and overtime as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Sciences, preferably Microbiology
  • plus 2 years in laboratory experience (or equivalent combination)
