Job Summary
The Microbiological Lab Tech is responsible for processing microbiology and chemistry tests, including raw and finished products testing, and environmental samples. This role requires communication of results to customers, adherence to safety and quality control procedures, and participation in training new team members. The technician must have a working knowledge of laboratory procedures and computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Excel. The position emphasizes individual responsibilities and meeting team objectives while maintaining lab accreditation.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Working knowledge of current laboratory procedures involving Pathogens and Quality Indicator bacteria
- Computer skills including functional knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Gmail
- Must be able to pass a company issued laboratory test and color-blind test
- Ability to effectively communicate in English (both written and verbal)
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology, Biology, Food Science, Chemistry or any science related field
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to lift and carry 40lb packages or trash bags over short distances and up/down stairs
- Lab coat must be worn at all times while in the laboratory
