Job Summary
Monitor patient safety and behavior during the 7 PM to 7 AM night shift, assisting clinicians with therapeutic interventions and managing security for patients exhibiting unacceptable conduct. Document patient departures, vital signs, and observations while performing clerical support for health information management and administrative functions. Maintain a safe therapeutic milieu through teamwork, enforce program rules, and provide physical restraint when necessary. This role requires CPR and Crisis Prevention Intervention certification, English fluency, and the ability to stand for long intervals in a high-stress environment.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or G.E.D.
- Ability to speak English and communicate effectively
- Must be able to stand on feet for long intervals
- Must have dexterity to participate in physical restraint of patients when necessary
- Ability to satisfy requirements for Healthcare Provider CPR and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI)
- Good physical and mental health as evidenced by warm empathic attitude
- Respect for the dignity and worth of others and a high sense of personal integrity
- Ability to work under close supervision with distractions/demanding patients and follow both verbal and written instructions
- Is punctual in all aspects of work and adheres to attendance policy
Desired Qualifications
- One year experience in a mental health care setting preferred (preferably as a Mental Health Technician or Certified Nursing Assistant)
- Appropriate education in a mental health related field might be substituted for experience
