Job Summary
MHS I - Prevention Specialist provides education, resources, and support to children and families at risk for substance abuse. Responsibilities include implementing school-based prevention programs for elementary through high school students, delivering education using evidence-based practices, collaborating with schools, parents, teachers, and community organizations, creating and conducting workshops, distributing resources to families, conducting outreach activities, performing pre- and post-knowledge tests, documenting services in electronic health records, and maintaining confidential, client-centered care while complying with CHI policies. Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field, at least one year of relevant HIV/substance abuse experience, HIV/AIDS 501 certification, AHA CPR certification, and a valid Florida driver’s license. Occasional participation in performance improvement activities and mandatory reporting/documentation duties are included, with a focus on delivering goal-oriented supports and fostering community linkages.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in social services, psychology or related field
- Minimum of one year experience working with adults experiencing HIV/substance abuse
- HIV/AIDS 501 certified
- CPR certification from American Heart Association
- Valid Florida Driver’s License
- Knowledge of substance abuse, community-based organizations and private providers of services
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to document service delivery in electronic health record
- Ability to develop resources and linkages for families and communities
- Ability to participate in performance improvement and training activities
- Adherence to confidentiality policies and HIPAA
