Mgr R&D Process Technology

Job Summary
Lead and manage Hershey's Process Technology Team in R&D to drive validation, scale-up, and commercialization of confectionery products across Core Confectionery, Strategic Growth Platforms, and Integrating Brands. Provide technical leadership in validation methodologies, equipment selection, and manufacturing integration; collaborate with Product Development, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, and Marketing to ensure performance, quality, regulatory compliance, and global deployment. Build and develop a high-performing technical team (3–5 staff plus contractors), set priorities for the Process Technology portfolio, and lead technical strategy for validation, scale-up, and commercialization of new products and processes. Drive data-driven decision-making, digital tools (process modeling, inline sensing, automation), and cross-functional alignment to enable business growth; manage capital projects, factory acceptance tests, and early incorporation of scale-up learnings. Requires 5+ years in Confectionery/Food Industry preferred; travel ~25% domestically and internationally as needed. Minimum Education & Experience: Bachelor’s in Chemical, Food, or Biochemical Engineering with 8+ years or Master’s with 5+ years or PhD with 4+ years; 5+ years in confectionery/food industry preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Food, or Biochemical Engineering or equivalent Scientific Discipline plus 8+ years of applicable work experience, or master’s degree plus 5+ years of applicable work experience, or a Ph.D. plus 4+ years of applicable work experience.
