Job Summary
Front-end administrative role supporting Brown University Health’s BHMG practice. Responsibilities include answering calls, routing messages, providing routine information and authorized medical guidance, delivering high-level customer service, creating patient cases in EPIC, scheduling appointments and testing, registering patients and verifying demographics and insurance information, conducting insurance eligibility checks, collecting co-pays and past balances, following scheduling notes, processing prior authorizations/referrals, performing outreach for patient groups, scheduling specialty appointments, handling EMR tasks, managing supply needs, assisting with revenue-cycle tasks, and maintaining patient confidentiality. The role requires independence, flexibility with shifts/locations, and alignment with the organization’s values of Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Education from approved medical assistant program or equivalent preferred
- One to three years as a medical assistant preferred
- Experience with EMR strongly preferred (Athena a plus)
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Outlook preferred
- Strong customer service excellence expected
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required
