Job Summary
Provide front-end administrative support for a Brown University Health physician practice. Duties include answering calls and routing messages, delivering routine medical information under provider guidance, delivering high-quality customer service to patients, creating patient cases in EPIC, scheduling appointments and tests, registering patients and verifying demographics and insurance, performing insurance eligibility checks and collecting co-pays, coordinating authorizations/referrals, performing outreach for patient care and quality initiatives, handling EMR work and claims in EPIC, and maintaining patient confidentiality while working independently in a day-shift, on-site (Providence, RI) setting. Strong emphasis on accurately processing insurance information, coordinating with physicians and staff, and utilizing EMR/office productivity tools to support smooth operations.
Required Qualifications
- One to three years as a medical assistant preferred
- Strong customer service excellence expected
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required
- Experience with EMR strongly preferred (Athena a plus)
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Outlook preferred
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Education from approved medical assistant program or equivalent preferred
