Job Summary
Conduct face-to-face non-medical counseling for military service members and families, including individual, couples, family, and children sessions. Provide visibility at assignment to support military-connected students, parents, and staff while recommending referrals based on clinical skills. Deliver presentations on social skills development and promote creativity through approved materials. Build rapport by attending installation and community events to help children navigate transition adjustments like new schools or homes. Participate in regular in-service training and communicate trends to Team Leads. Work as a local Mission Ready Reserve counselor within 50 miles of Fort Wainwright, AK, with flexible short-term shifts ranging from 2 to 9 months.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree or higher in the Behavioral Health Professions (MS/MSW/MA/PhD)
- Valid independent license in the mental health field from any US state or territory (LCSW, MHC, MFT, LPCC, Psychologist)
- U.S. citizenship
- Ability to pass a basic background check for employment, a Child National Agency Check, and Inquiries (NACI/CNACI) clearance, commonly called a Public Trust clearance
- Local, living within 50 miles of the Installation to be able to commute daily, as needed
- Flexibility to pick up shifts both locally with potential to travel for short-term coverage
- Experience differential clinical skills
