Job Summary
MFLC ARC (Assignment Ready Counselor) provides non-medical, short-term, solution-focused counseling to adults, children, and youth of military service members and their families in military installations. The Summer ARC position covers assignments May 15–September 15, including potential work in DoDEA or community schools, youth programs, and on-demand surge assignments. Roles may support MFLC services across military community and readiness centers, with duties including assessment, brief counseling and referral, parent training, health and wellness presentations, and collaboration with POC to ensure program scope and confidentiality. Requires a Master’s degree in a mental health field or social work, current independent licensure, permission to work on military installations, ability to travel within base settings, and flexibility to cover varying lengths of assignments (including weekends). Advanced knowledge of brief therapy and solution-focused methods, ability to engage with service members and families, and willingness to adapt to new environments are essential. This posting includes a remote location in Syracuse, NY, with part-time, on-call, and weekend availability for surges and short-term deployments.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s Degree from an accredited graduate program in a mental health related field, or social work
- Current licensure required for this position that meets State, Commonwealth or customer-specific requirements
- Ability to prove US Citizenship and must be fluent in English
- Advanced knowledge of brief therapy and solution-focused counseling methods
- Experience with adults, children, and youth in counseling settings
- Willingness to accept assignments of undefined periods, including weekends
- Experience working in school settings (DoDEA or community schools) desired for CYB positions
