Job Summary
Perform precision measurements using CMMs, optical comparators, and hand tools while calibrating and maintaining equipment per established procedures. Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T specifications, and process sheets to document results and generate detailed inspection reports. Troubleshoot measurement discrepancies, assist with root cause analysis, and collaborate with engineering teams to resolve quality issues. Develop and optimize measurement methods and fixturing for new products. This role supports leading manufacturers in Wayland seeking Metrology Technicians who want more than a lateral move.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Metrology, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field
- 3+ years of experience in metrology or quality control within a manufacturing environment
- Proficiency in operating and programming CMMs, optical comparators, and other precision measurement equipment
- Strong understanding of GD&T principles and their application in inspection and measurement
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications
- Experience with calibration procedures and maintaining measurement traceability
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with programming and operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs)
- Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles and applications
- Proficiency in statistical process control (SPC) software and data analysis
- Experience with calibration and maintenance of metrology equipment
