Metrology Technician

Job Summary

Perform dimensional inspections using conventional precision measuring equipment and FARO systems, including operating and programming measuring arms for geometric analysis. Maintain the plant calibration program by scheduling, tracking, and coordinating internal and external calibrations with accredited laboratories while verifying traceability. Execute measurement system analysis studies, interpret engineering drawings and GD&T, and support APQP, PPAP, and first article inspection activities. Participate in root cause investigations involving dimensional issues and ensure compliance with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and internal quality procedures. Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams to validate products against customer specifications.

Required Qualifications

  • Technical degree in Metrology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing, Electromechanics, or related field
  • 2+ years of experience in metrology, calibration, or dimensional inspection within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience operating FARO measuring arm or similar portable CMM systems
  • Experience managing calibration programs and measurement equipment
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
  • Experience supporting APQP, PPAP, FAI, and manufacturing validation activities
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 requirements
  • IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 experience
  • Familiarity with MSA, SPC, GD&T, Core Tools, and statistical analysis
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Intermediate English (technical reading and documentation)
  • Experience in automotive or plastics manufacturing
  • Experience with CMM programming or additional advanced metrology equipment
  • Knowledge of SPC, Cp/Cpk, DOE, and statistical analysis tools

  • Bachelor's degree in Metrology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing, Electromechanics, or related field preferred
  • Experience with CMM programming or additional advanced metrology equipment
