Job Summary

Program and operate metrology equipment across contact and non-contact systems to validate parts meet requirements. Write, debug, and optimize inspection programs to improve accuracy, repeatability, and cycle time. Troubleshoot complex measurement issues and resolve process-level problems by determining why inspections fail or produce inconsistent results. Design, build, and validate holding fixtures used on CMMs. Maintain and improve lab equipment and processes, including calibration and cleanliness, to reduce downtime and ensure data reliability. Train and mentor other team members while serving as the go-to resource for difficult measurement problems. Work closely with the Quality Engineering team to support problem-solving, root cause analysis, and product design. Define best-practice inspection and reporting strategies with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with industry standards like AS9100 and ISO 17025.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of metrology experience
  • Programming CMMs
  • Hands-on experience with at least three different types of metrology equipment (CNC CMM, portable CMM, laser tracker, large-volume or automated 3D scanners, optical comparator, etc.)
  • Proficiency with CMM software
  • PolyWorks preferred
  • PC-DMIS
  • Calypso
  • Verisurf
  • MCosmos
  • Equivalent acceptable with the ability to learn PolyWorks quickly
  • Excellent understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
  • Experience designing and building holding fixtures for CMMs
  • Proficiency with precision measuring equipment (micrometers, height gauges, and other hand tools)
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance

Desired Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or technical training
  • Experience with advanced or specialized inspection methods, including NDT
  • Experience with CT scanning and automated or large-volume 3D scanning
  • Experience with PolyWorks|DataLoop or similar metrology data management platforms
  • Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO 17025 quality systems
