Job Summary
Read and record residential and commercial water meters, inspect for damage and leaks, and install, remove, test, and repair units. Turn water service on and off as needed, investigate high usage complaints, and report hazardous conditions. Complete and document work orders while assisting customers with meter questions and responding to emergencies. Maintain accurate records and follow all safety procedures, including wearing steel-toe boots. This Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM temp-to-hire role in Parkersburg, WV, requires a valid driver's license, hands-on tool skills, and the ability to walk five miles daily, climb stairs, and lift up to 50 lbs. No prior water meter certification is required; training is provided for the right candidate.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license
- Hands-on experience using tools
- Basic mechanical and computer skills
- Dependable and reliable
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Must be able to obtain and maintain required water meter certification
- Walk approximately 5 miles per day
- Regularly climb stairs and work on uneven terrain
- Bend and reach down into water meter pits
- Lift up to 50 lbs. and heavier items with assistance
- Work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Safely perform physical duties throughout the workday
- Steel-toe boots
- Must follow all required safety procedures and PPE requirements
